    Greenwich Crossing Welcomes… Kneads Bakery Café! Known for its in-house stone mill that grinds 100% organic whole grain flour daily, the new Kneads location will include two spaces: street-front retail along Railroad Avenue and an additional on the second floor inside the train station, offering Irving Farm coffee and grab-and-go items for commuters.

    We’re excited for Kneads to join us in further strengthening the connection between Railroad Avenue, the train station, Greenwich Avenue, and the surrounding community. Both locations are expected to open in late spring 2027.

    Greenwich Crossing Moves into Final Approvals

    We’re excited to share a major milestone: We’re currently working through the final step in the construction process – obtaining all required permit signoffs and Certificates of Occupancy from the Town of Greenwich. This administrative process takes time and ensures every element of the project meets all applicable codes and standards.

    Metro-North has completed their train platform work. The Steamboat Road staircase is now open.

    Greenwich Crossing construction work on the Steamboat Road staircase is completed. However, the staircase will remain closed until early August while Metro-North continues to perform emergency repairs to portions of Track 3-Grand Central Bound platform. This Metro-North platform work is unrelated to the Greenwich Crossing project.

    Please note the following construction updates:

    • Railroad Avenue Sidewalk Now Open – We’re excited to announce that the sidewalk along Railroad Avenue is now open from Arch Street to Steamboat Road in front of Greenwich Crossing.  The area in front of the restaurant near Steamboat Road will have periodic daily closures as we wrap up construction.
    • Railroad Avenue Parking & Roadway Work – The construction staging area on Railroad Avenue has been removed. The Town of Greenwich is expected to pave Railroad Avenue during the week of June 22 and reinstall parking meters along the Greenwich Crossing frontage. The crosswalk in front of the train station will be reconstructed upon completion of the paving.
    • Steamboat Road Pedestrian Staircase – The staircase on Steamboat Road will remain closed for approximately 4-6 weeks while we complete the new stair finishes and Metro-North performs emergency repairs to portions of Track 3-Grand Central Bound platform.
    • Train Station Access Remains Available – Access to the Greenwich Train Station, station elevator, pedestrian bridge, MTA platform elevators, and staircases at Arch Street, Greenwich Plaza Road, and the Railroad Avenue parking lot remains open.     As Greenwich Crossing nears completion, construction activities are limited to final punch-list and finishing work. Thank you for your patience throughout this transformation.

    Good news! The elevator inside the station will be open for public use on Monday, June 8th before 9:00 AM.

    Thank you to everyone for your patience during the final inspection and certification process. We are excited to restore full elevator access within the station to the community.

    Work on the elevator finished more than two months ago.  We have been waiting on final state inspection and certification before the elevator can be placed into service. We anticipate this process being completed in June, though the inspection process is not in our control.

    The MTA platform elevators remain fully operational and accessible from both sides of the pedestrian bridge.

    We sincerely appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we work to bring the elevator into service as quickly and safely as possible. We hope everyone has a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend.

Improvements include the demolition of the existing 16,349 SF theatre building located at the corner of Railroad Avenue and Steamboat Road and, in its place, the construction of a new, mixed-use space with an outdoor plaza and better pedestrian access to the train platform. The space will feature green spaces and outdoor seating for a new restaurant. This new building addition will be set back more than 20 feet from Railroad Avenue, and nearly 30 feet from Steamboat Road. In addition, a new staircase to the train platform will improve pedestrian access and egress. Adjoining the restaurant to the west will be new retail space.

The revitalization also includes the renovation and re-facing of the remaining mixed-use building and both interior and exterior improvements to the train station. All will be renovated to provide new retail storefronts and tenant spaces, connecting the active retail streetscape of Greenwich Avenue to the Greenwich Train Station. Click to view all renderings.

The use of new materials, upgraded lighting, and modern signage will refresh the station’s exterior façade, giving it a more distinguished presence on Railroad Avenue. Inside the station, renovations include full-glass entrance facades, a new wood-slatted ceiling, upgraded restrooms, and new flooring, glass railings, signage, and a new elevator. The elevator door will be reoriented, allowing for a small retail opportunity to be added on the station’s second floor. All new flooring throughout and the use of upgraded materials, including glass, will provide a more open and sunlit space. Click to view all renderings.

Station Hours: 4:45am-10:00pm Monday-Friday; 5:00am-8:00pm Saturdays & Sundays

The anticipated completion date is October 2026.

There will be typical traffic delays associated with construction, and we will do our best to keep these at a minimum. We will keep our tenants, and the Greenwich community informed throughout the project.

The train station is open. Citibank and Signature Cycles are open during construction and their store entrances can be accessed in the station lobby and via the pedestrian hallway doors near the public parking lot.

Metered parking spaces along the Greenwich Crossing east retail side of Railroad Avenue have been deactivated following the Town’s established procedures and associated costs. We have temporarily relocated 12 public-use parking spaces, 2 of which are ADA spaces to the west side parking lot at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Arch Street. There are additional street parking spaces available alongside the public parking lot.

Parking in front of the west retail is open. The train station is open.
